Privacy Policy
Your trust matters to me. This policy explains what personal information I collect through this website, why I collect it, how I protect it, and the choices you have. It is provided in keeping with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy requirements.
In this policy, “I,” “me,” and “my” refer to Susantha Akuressa, a licensed life insurance advisor in Ontario, attached to Carte Financial Group, with group benefits offered through Strategic Alliance Financial Group. “You” refers to anyone who visits this website or submits their information through it.
1. The information I collect
I only collect personal information you choose to provide and what is reasonably needed to help you. This includes:
- Contact details you enter in the quote form — your name, phone number, and email address.
- Basic eligibility details — such as your age range.
- Anything you choose to share in the optional message field, which may include health-related information (for example, a condition or a past insurance decline).
- Information you give me later during our call or application — such as date of birth, address, beneficiary details, and health and lifestyle information needed to apply for coverage.
- Limited technical information your device sends automatically when loading any website, such as your IP address and browser type. This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Health information is treated as sensitive. Any health-related details you share are handled with extra care, used only to assess and arrange insurance coverage, and never used for any unrelated purpose.
2. Why I collect it
I use your personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate, namely to:
- Contact you, prepare a no-obligation quote, and answer your questions;
- Determine which insurance plans you may be eligible for and submit an application on your behalf if you choose to proceed;
- Provide ongoing service on any policy you put in place; and
- Meet my legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations as a licensed advisor.
3. Your consent
By submitting the form and checking the consent box, you agree that I may contact you by phone, email, or text about life insurance options. This consent also satisfies Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for electronic messages I send you.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me using the details below, or by using the unsubscribe option in any email. Please note that withdrawing consent may limit my ability to provide a quote or service your coverage.
4. Who I share it with
I do not sell your personal information, ever. I share it only as needed to deliver the service you asked for, or where required by law. This may include:
- Insurance companies whose products you apply for — for example, Canada Protection Plan (a Foresters Financial company) — in order to obtain quotes and process applications;
- Carte Financial Group, through which my insurance business is processed, and (for group benefits) Strategic Alliance Financial Group;
- Trusted service providers (such as the secure tool I use to manage client inquiries) that are bound to keep your information confidential and use it only on my instructions; and
- Regulators or authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
These organizations have their own privacy practices. Once your application is submitted to an insurer, that insurer’s privacy policy also governs how it handles your information.
5. How I protect it
I maintain reasonable physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect it against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, I take your privacy seriously and limit access to your information to what is necessary to serve you.
6. How long I keep it
I keep your personal information only as long as needed to fulfill the purposes above and to meet legal and regulatory record-keeping requirements that apply to insurance advisors. When it is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or anonymized. If you ask for a quote and decide not to proceed, you may ask me to delete your information.
7. Your rights
Subject to legal limits, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information I hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw consent to further contact; and
- Ask questions or make a complaint about how your information is handled.
I will respond to your request within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with my response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
8. Links to other sites
This website may link to other websites, such as those of insurers or my affiliated firms. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and I encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
9. Children
This website and the services described are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18 through this site.
10. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its “last updated” date, will always be posted on this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so please check back periodically.
